What Should I Bring/Pack?

Tips on What to Wear to a Corn Maze

Fall weather can be sneaky—sunny one minute, chilly the next. For those wondering what to wear to corn maze attractions, some items to consider packing include:

  • Closed-toe shoes or boots with traction make great footwear on the farm. Depending on the day, mud or dust are part of the adventure!
  • A jacket or sweatshirt keeps you cozy.
  • Gloves and hats are a great idea on chilly nights.
  • Sunblock & a Hat is a good idea. There is not much shade in the mazes until the sun goes down.
  • Bring a flashlight for smooth sailing in the corn maze after dark (except during Field of Screams, when scares take priority!).
  • A full battery makes for epic photos and peace of mind knowing you can reach each other in the corn maze. You can always ask staff for help!

Accessibility Tip: After heavy rain, wheelchair and stroller users may find the maze paths challenging. We recommend visiting on a dry day for the best experience!

Corn Maze FAQ

What are the Corn Maze Rules?

Our Corn Maze Playbook: Easy Rules for Big Fun

We’re thrilled to welcome you to Our 8-acre Corn Maze! Here’s how awesome explorers like you help keep the fun flowing and the corn growing:

Respect the Farm

Guests like you keep the maze spectacular! Please care for the corn, scenes, signs, and property (no vandalism).

Leave No Trace

We ask that you hold onto any trash until you reach an exit or bin. Thank you for keeping it beautiful for everyone!

Under 12 Must Have an Adult Buddy

Kids 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Grown-up sidekicks ensure little explorers feel safe, stay confident, and have a blast from start to finish.

No Smoking

We’re all about cozy fire pits! With dry hay, cornstalks, and wood chips everywhere, we keep smoking and other flames outside the farm to stay safe together.

Walk, Please

Exploring at a relaxed pace keeps the vibe happy and safe for everyone. Maze time is made for wandering.

Stay Visible

Our corn maze is huge, and staying on the path, in sight of staff and other guests, keeps your adventure smooth and worry-free. Plus, it  protects the corn for future explorers to enjoy!

No Pets

Pets are not permitted on the property. Service animals are always welcome in accordance with ADA guidelines.

For our fellow dog lovers, we host a special Dog Days in the Maze event event once a year, when guests are invited to bring their pets.

No Outside Food or Beverages

Outside food and drinks (including outside alcohol) must stay at home. We love your support for our local family farm! Enjoy festive snacks, food and drinks from our concessions and beverage stands and food trucks.

Be Polite With Light

Flashlights are great for night maze exploration (except on Field of Screams scare nights!). Explorers like you keep beams on the path to keep it fun for everyone.

No Drugs or Weapons

Thanks for helping us keep the Echo Corn Maze community focused by leaving weapons, alcohol, and any substances at home. You’re making it awesome for everyone!

How Long Does the Corn Maze Take?

Plan on at least an hour to complete the maze.

How long does it take to complete the corn maze? That depends… on your sense of direction (and your determination to prove you’re not that lost!).

Most folks find their way out of the corn stalks in about an hour during the day, but at night—with just a flashlight and your wits—it can take closer to 1.5 hours. It’s all part of the adventure!

Folks utilizing wheelchairs or strollers may require additional time.

Pro Tip: Arrive before sunset to snag golden hour photos and enjoy a nighttime maze adventure. Tag #EchoCornMaze in your favorite shots!

What is the Trick to Corn Mazes?

Hmmm… Is there a trick to solving corn mazes? Yes, several! Our mazes are designed to be challenging, but we can offer you a few tried and true corn maze tips to aid in your adventure!

How to Escape a Corn Maze: The Landmark Method

  • Find landmarks!
    • Eyes up! Tall landmarks are your friends if you’re turned around (even clouds can be temporary landmarks on days without too much wind).
    • Spot unique features like irregular corn, funny-shaped stalks, decorative elements, and unique turns.
    • Look back at each junction so you recognize it by its unique landmark if you need to loop back around. Things can look very different in reverse!
    • Leave no trace! Remember, unique landmarks are found through creative thinking, not by making them. Leave no trace so all guests enjoy the most pristine maze possible!
  • Make Mental Notes
    • “This is the corner that turned sharply before I saw the sunflowers,” or “I turned right at the tall stalk and came to a dead end. I’ll backtrack to the tall stalk and turn left instead.”
  • Take One Path
    • Try not to take the same path twice unless backtracking (when backtracking, rely on landmarks).
  • Go to the Last Junction
    • At a dead end or place you’ve already visited from all directions, backtrack to the last junction and choose a new untried route (when backtracking, rely on landmarks).

How to Solve a Corn Maze:  The Overall Direction Method

  • Good sense of direction? With every turn, aim to keep moving toward your chosen direction (like always heading “north” overall). This may not always work, however. For instance, what if the entrance is next to the exit?

How to Get Out of a Corn Maze: The Turn Right Method

  • Just having fun? Try taking a right at every turn. In some cases the method will eventually lead you out… but not all.
  • Try it if you dare. This method will take a very, very long time.

How to Get Out of a Corn Maze: The Systematic Search Method

  • Do you have all the time in the world to figure out how to get out of a cornfield maze? Try systematically.
  • Keep exploring one path until you hit a dead end, then backtrack and try a new branch. Repeat until you find your way out of the maze.
  • This method will take a very, very long time. We don’t recommend it.

So, what is the trick to solving a maze?

The truth is, no single corn maze tip can help us with solving the problem of how to always get out of a corn maze. But, getting lost is all part of the adventure! So, get lost (in the best way possible) in our corn mazes!
